What a year 2020 was. While it brought many blessings, it also brought some hardships. While usually my new years resolutions are to run another half marathon or to vow to make more healthy dinners for my family, this year I chose more realistic resolutions. 2021 is the year for survival. If 2020 taught me anything it is that the most important thing is time with love ones. This year I vow:
- To embrace chaos. Even if the house is a mess and dinner needs to be made, if my kids want to play or need a little extra loving I will choose that above all else because in the end that is what matters most.
- Give myself grace. It is easy to compare yourself to other parents. Whether it is comparing what they pack their kids for school lunches, or wondering why their kids seem to have less tantrums that yours. Every parent, kid and situation is different. Take solace in the fact that you are doing your best.
- Put my family above all else. It is easy to get caught up in everything that is happening in the world, your work, chores....the list is endless. I am promising myself and my family I will spend more energy on them.
Let's make this the best year yet!
